About Truro Canoe Club
Truro Canoe Racing Club is based on the beautiful Truro River, a sheltered tidal river winding through peaceful countryside and creeks. The river provides a fantastic environment for paddling. Its wide, open stretches are ideal for training and racing, while the surrounding scenery of rolling fields, wooded banks and abundant wildlife makes every session a pleasure to be part of. As a tidal river, conditions change throughout the day, which adds variety to training and helps paddlers develop strong water awareness and boat control. Session times are planned carefully around the tides to ensure safe and enjoyable paddling. Truro River is accessible enough for beginners to build confidence, while still offering plenty of scope for longer distance training and race preparation for more experienced paddlers.
Truro Canoe Club is a racing kayak club involved in the Olympic and World Championship sports of Sprint and Marathon canoeing. The club was founded in the early 1980’s and has enjoyed success being the Southwest champions for a number of years. The club has a friendly atmosphere and new members are welcomed and given help and coaching as they need it. Founded with a passion for canoe racing, we take part in local, regional and national events, including the South West Hasler Marathon Series. At the same time, we remain a welcoming grassroots club where enjoyment, teamwork and personal progress matter just as much as results.
Our sessions are led by qualified volunteer coaches who give their time to help others develop skills, build confidence and enjoy the sport safely. We are proud to have a growing team of trained paddlesport leaders supporting our members both on and off the water.

Truro Canoe Club runs a Winter Time Trial Series, giving paddlers the opportunity to race throughout the winter months and track their progress over time.
The series includes both 5km and 10km courses, with mixed craft and abilities taking part, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved.
